York Elementary
York Elementary - Progress as Promised
In April 2019, Springfield voters approved Proposition S which enables Springfield Public Schools to make facility improvements to a number of schools. Due to lower than expected cost on multiple projects, an estimated $20.96 million is available to build a new York Elementary. York was identified by the Community Task Force on Facilities as "next in line" for improvements. On Aug. 18, 2020, the Board of Education approved to move forward with the project.

Relocation of Students
Free Bus Transportation 2021-2022
Free bus transportation will be provided for all York students, for the 2021-2022 school year, who currently live in the York attendance area to the relocation site. Individuals attending York on a transfer will be responsible for providing their own transportation to the temporary site. Details about bus stop locations and pick-up and drop-off times will be shared in August. Review bus rules here.
General Updates
To help students become familiar with the relocation site, a Meet the Teacher event will be held at the relocation site prior to school starting in August. This event will allow you to also learn more about the construction of the new York Elementary building.
