Williams Project

In April 2019, Springfield voters approved Proposition S which enables Springfield Public Schools to make facility improvements to a number of schools, including renovation and expansion of Williams Elementary. The expansion will include space for an early childhood hub at an estimated cost of $3.65 million. Renovation costs are expected to be $14.32 million. The facility will serve up to 350 K-5 students and 100 pre-K students.

Improvements will include:

  • Address accessibility and security challenges
  • Safe room gymnasium
  • Expanded space for preschool mini-hub

Relocation of Students

Williams relocation

For the 2020-2021 school year, Williams Elementary students will temporarily relocate, due to construction, to a school building located at 1813 S. Scenic Ave.

Free bus transportation will be provided for all Williams students who currently live in the Williams attendance area to the relocation site. Individuals attending Williams on a transfer will be responsible for providing their own transportation to the temporary site. A postcard containing details about bus stop locations and pick-up and drop-off times will be mailed in August.

General Updates

To help students become familiar with the relocation site, a Meet the Teacher event will be held at the relocation site prior to school starting in August.  This event will allow you to also learn more about the construction of the current Williams building.
