Tornado Safe Rooms/Gymnasiums
In April 2019, Springfield voters approved Proposition S which enables Springfield Public Schools to make facility improvements to a number of schools. During the November 17, 2020 Board of Education meeting, it was reported that additional funds were available to address projects not included in the April 2019 bond. The Board agreed to moving forward with phase two of the Hillcrest project, the construction of a new York Elementary, and the construction of tornado safe rooms/gymnasiums at Mann, Wilder, Field and Twain elementary schools.
