Parents as Teachers

Parents As Teachers Missouri Curriculum Partner is a free, voluntary program that serves families with children from prenatal to kindergarten entry. We provide home visits that meet the needs of your family and use a research-based curriculum. Every child is offered a developmental screening once per year to ensure your child is meeting developmental milestones. Group connections and access to a resource network are other benefits of participating in the program.

All Parents as Teachers Missouri Curriculum Partner educators are SPS employees and have had extensive background checks.

Enrolling in Parents as Teachers

Learn, play and grow with Springfield Parents As Teachers Missouri Curriculum Partner!

Families in the Springfield Public School district can enroll in Parents As Teachers or call (417) 523-1160.

Once a family is enrolled, contact will be made by a parent educator. The parent educator will be able to provide the parent or guardian with developmental information about the child, parenting resource information and screen the child as the child ages through milestones.

Developmental Screening Information

Developmental screening provides a quick check of your child’s development. It can be thought of as a snapshot of your child’s motor, cognitive, language, and social-emotional skills. A screening will help determine if your child is meeting the appropriate milestones for their age.

To have your child screened, you can call the screening department at (417) 523-1333 or request a screening.

If it is your first visit to a school site, you will need to bring a state ID for a visitor pass.
