Goals:

Goal 1: Proficiency & Performance - Graduates of Springfield Public Schools World Language will gain proficiency per course as measured by common assessments and common rubrics, and will achieve the Seal of Biliteracy designated by the state of Missouri.

Goal 2: Learner Experience - Springfield Public Schools World Language program will create authentic learning tasks across the four domains of language with a focus on high-interest and transferable skills, building language ego/confidence in communication through practice, and student ownership of personalized learning goals.

Goal 3: Cross-Cultural Learning - Springfield Public Schools World Language program will create meaningful cross-cultural experiences for students which align with ACTFL culture-building standards with the goal to build empathy through knowledge of various cultures (3+, as applicable) related to the target language. As available through community partners, students will have the opportunity to interact with people from those cultures.

Goal 4: Calibrating & Tracking Goals - Springfield Public Schools World Language program will develop and maintain common and clear assessments and rubrics for measuring student proficiency from unit to unit and from course to course, and provide structures/resources for students’ self-monitoring of goals with a balance in mind of instructional hours to assessment hours per semester.
