Springfield Public Schools strives to keep the community informed about issues, events and activities related to its schools. Local news media are among the channels SPS uses to communicate this information.
Contact the Communications Department for assistance in arranging interviews and photographs for a potential story. Providing your name, the story subject, the specific request, and whether or not the story is related to breaking news will aid in our assistance to you.
Photographing and interviewing SPS students
Springfield Public Schools complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, which allows students and parents to opt out of the release of certain information about students, including personal information and photographs. Once the interview has been arranged, District personnel will identify students who cannot be photographed and interviewed due to privacy concerns. Those students will be identified to members of the media prior to the interview being conducted. Your cooperation is critical in ensuring that the privacy and rights of minor students are not violated.
