  • Chinese l

    Grades 9-12

    1 unit of credit

    Students will acquire an elementary ability to listen, speak, read, and write the Chinese language. Specifically, students will be learning the national standard dialect called Mandarin (the official dialect used for official government work and school instruction in all of China). This course emphasizes the skills needed for useful daily communication, e.g. making friends, expressing ones needs and preferences, seeking and giving directions, etc. Along with learning the language, students will also be introduced to various Chinese culture.

  • French l

    Grades 9-12

    1 unit of credit

    Students will begin to understand, speak, read, and write French. Conversational skills using the present tense and practical vocabulary are emphasized. Students also begin to study the culture of French-speaking people.

  • French ll

    Grades 9-12

    1 unit of credit

    Builds on first-level course.  Students increase their vocabulary, are introduced to the past tense, and improve conversational, reading, and writing skills.  Students continue to study the culture of French-speaking people.  Prerequisite:  Successful completion of French l.

  • French III

    Grades 9-12

    1 unit of credit

    In French III, students continue to develop skills in speaking, listening and writing French. At this level there is increased emphasis on vocabulary development, oral proficiency, expression in past and various other tenses. Students continue to expand knowledge of the culture of language-speaking peoples. Prerequisite: Completion of French II with a C or better. Dual credit may be available.

  • French IV

    Grades 10-12

    1 unit of credit

    In French IV, students concentrate on more proficient communication in French. Students and teachers communicate more in French in order to refine the skills of speaking, auditory and reading comprehension, and composition. Students apply previously learned verb tenses and are introduced to the remaining tenses and moods in the verb system. Units of study include more authentic readings and discussion of culture and personal opinions. Prerequisite: Completion of French III with a C or better. Dual credit may be available.

  • German l

    Grades 9-12

    1 unit of credit

    Students will acquire an elementary ability to listen, speak, read, and write the German language.   • Spanish l

    Grades 9-12

    1 unit of credit 

    Students will begin to understand, speak, read, and write Spanish. Conversational skills using the present tense and practical vocabulary are emphasized. Students also begin to study the culture of Spanish-speaking people. Successful completion of Spanish I in the eighth grade allows students to enroll in Spanish II.  


  • Spanish ll

    Grades 9-12

    1 unit of credit 

    Builds on the first-level course. Students increase their vocabulary, continue to use and develop the present tense and infinitive verb constructions, and improve conversational, reading, and writing skills.  Students continue to study the culture of Spanish-speaking people.  Prerequisite:  Successful completion of Spanish I.

  • Spanish III

    Grades 9-12

    1 unit of credit 

    Students in Spanish III continue to develop skills in speaking, listening, and writing Spanish.
